As the European cultural centre of Belgium’s French-speaking Community, Les Halles is developing an artistic project that is multidisciplinary, contemporary, committed and international. Les Halles provide an out-of-the-ordinary setting for far from ordinary artistic offerings PROPOSALS. With its multidisciplinary approach, Les Halles is a venue in which every art form is welcome and can mix and meet with other artistic languages. Les Halles cross dance, circus, stage arts PERFORMING ARTS, musical and literary performances LITERATURE CIRCLES, mixed-genre musical projects and visual arts. Projects in each of these fields move beyond the bounds of their particular disciplines and question their specific conventions. Creation at Les Halles is resolutely contemporary. Les Halles is keen to produce meaning with innovative artistic projects – off the beaten track – which unreservedly explore today’s languages. These languages belong to the register of contemporary research into FORMS THAT STIMULATE the confrontation of ideas, discussion and thought. Artists are given the opportunity to take time, experiment, find their own particular path. Les Halles proposes projects that link in RELATED to the global political context and explore the meeting of CONNECTIONS BETWEEN social and artistic movements. Its commitment is decisively cross-disciplinary, with a particular attention to local Brussels inhabitants and associations. Les Halles combines European creation and a local community commitment. It plays an essential role in the confrontation of different cultures, languages and approaches in Brussels. The presence of European proposals is a major axis of the project. Les Halles want to open up ITS spectators and local creative artists to the outside world by exhibiting innovative artistic movements that are taking place elsewhere
