Tarek (26) has been offered a unique opportunity as a martial arts athlete. He is hoping for a better future for himself, his mother and his young brother Fouad (12). But to realise your dream in a city like Brussels, you have to know how to persevere without failing.
Ish and Monir paint a nuanced picture of a city that doesn't always live up to its image. Inspired by their own childhood in the capital, they also show that hope sometimes comes from an unexpected place.
When Tarek is given the chance to escape the setting of his childhood and realise his dream, his life and that of his younger brother take a new turn. Brussels not only presents a nuanced picture of an often misunderstood city, but also shows that hope can sometimes come from unexpected places.
