Lecture américaine

Daphné Biiga Nwanak / Baudouin Woehl

Haunted by Salinger, Daphne Biiga Nwanak went to New York to find traces of him. Wandering the city, she looked for men and women to tell her their stories, songs, and exiles. She wanted to follow in their footsteps. She put together these stories to create an original piece full of light and shadow, aware of the possibilities of the American Dream and the realities of those it excludes.

Paula, Henry, and Harriet are the three characters who give substance to this Western tale, which is still embedded in our shared unconscious. Mixing theatre, dance and music, Lecture Américaine (‘American Reading’) knits and unknits with finesse the threads in which our hearts are caught.
