Mama's Open Mic was founded almost ten years ago to offer both beginning and more experienced artists - ranging from spoken word artists, singers to comedians and rappers - the opportunity to show their work to a wide audience in an accessible way. MOM is a "safe space", which means that there is no room for -isms (racism, sexism, ableism, ageism,...) or phobias (fat phobia, islamophobia, transphobia,...). In the name of empowerment and inclusion, we will facilitate an environment of mutual respect and take the necessary measures to keep it that way!

Sefora Sam, known as “Sesa”, is a spoken word poet, author and performer based in Antwerp, Belgium. She gets inspired by both the little and the big events that cross her path daily. Sesa is mostly known for heartfelt, vulnerable and brutally honest introspection through poetry.

Her superpower is spinning love, growth, acceptance and love of self out of heartbreak, insecurity, childhood trauma and low self-esteem. In 2016, she self-published her first collection of poems on self-love named ‘The Thrill of Victory’. This collection is a timeline, going from negative to positive, on how the poetess overcame silent battles and started her self-love journey by simply writing everything down. Her debut-collection sold worldwide and increased her recognition online.

Early in 2019 she self-published ‘Rose Quartz’, an exclusive, little exercise book on self-forgiveness. It’s a guide that can be used as a helping hand in one’s journey of self-forgiveness. ‘Rose Quartz’ was inspired by her audio poem, ‘The art of letting go,’ available on all streaming platforms.

In the fall of 2020, Sesa is making a comeback with ‘The Break Free’. ‘The Break Free’ is a collection of poetry and reflections on family ties, insecurities, loss, love, self-love and, above all, womanhood. By sharing her poetry, Sesa hopes to create a community who feel less alone and can do the growing and healing together.

Kunde is a solo artist known for his sharp lyrics, groovy beats and funky touch on the keys. Now he is joined by a crew of two funky cats Pieter Vanoverberghe on the drums and Daniel Clarist Guedegbe on the bass.
