Louise Vanneste

Louise Vanneste turned to contemporary dance after training in classical dance and developed, with Rising Horses, a choreographic work in connection with artists from disciplines other than dance. Cédric Dambrain for the music, Stéphane Broc for the video, visual artists and lighting designer Arnaud Gerniers or even Gwendoline Robin and Elise Peroï for performance and textiles. His works, Sie kommen, HOME, Black Milk, Gone in a heartbeat, Thérians and atla have been presented in Belgium and abroad: Kunstenfestivaldesarts, Charleroi danse, Les Rencontres chorégraphiques internationales de Seine-saint-Denis, Théâtre de Liège, Halles de Schaerbeek, Roma europa, CDC Roubaix, adc Geneva… In addition to her projects on stage, Louise Vanneste develops a work of video installations (SK, Going West, #1, …) and is involved in pedagogy and transmission for about ten years (ISAC, Amsterdam University, Extension/Toulouse, etc.).

How to combine rigour, freedom, and emotion? Together with her performers, Louise Vanneste has created a sensory experience of the living, flexible and precise, based on plants and geometry. The opposition between plant proliferation and geometric formalism vanishes at the micro-movement scale. Duplicated, multiplied by the group, the micro-changes become figures that dazzle perceptual chaos, develop into coherent universes, jostle and disintegrate, plunge into the imperceptible. We are on the lookout, our senses sharpened, like hunters waiting for their next prey.
