Le Grand Marché

The end of the season at Les Halles is synonymous with Le Grand Marché, the Big Market. We open up our doors to the local neighbourhood and to all those who want to bring the spaces of the former Rue Sainte-Marie market to life.

Designed with L'Amicale, a project cooperative partnered with Les Halles, Le Grand Marché is an experience in the transformation of Les Halles and the creation of unlikely links. We’ll be setting up artistic spaces, but also places to play, practice, try things out and partake in the art of meeting people. A giant ball pit, a sports area, a soft slide, a kitchen... experience Les Halles differently.

For one month, we put on a market of what we produce best: ideas, encounters, emotions and time spent differently in a joyous and anarchic atmosphere. The Grand Marché aims to be a space for creating utopias, a nice spot where you can find allies in the creation of a new folklore.

The Grand Marché is mainly open during the day, with free entry, and is developed in partnership with l’Ecole Supérieure des Arts du Cirque, the Hip Hop School, the Carnival de Schaerbeek and Bwanga Pilipili and Samira Hmouda’s B.NARRATIVE project.
