People have always danced together... In While We Are Here, dancer, choreographer and researcher Lisa Vereertbrugghen explores the timeless desire to dance hard, collectively. She has invited Claire Godsmark, Dolores Hulan, Eimi Leggett and Castélie Yalombo Lilonge to dedicate themselves to practising hardcore rave in parallel with folk dances celebrating joy and conviviality.
By juxtaposing these styles, she provides an invitation for each to draw inspiration from the other, bringing into being a very lively techno-folk hybrid dance!
While We Are Here is a timeless ode to “being here and now,” just engaging in pleasure, sharing and solidarity, here we are together dancing in spirals and circles to, perhaps, look at the world differently...
