Racism, privilege(s), domination(s), resistance, community(/communities): fundamental concepts dissected under Habibitch’s sharp decolonial lens, which deconstructs norms of class, gender, sexuality and race while embracing the intersections of her identity in a dynamic lecture/performance that boldly incorporates a few dance moves drawn from her practice of voguing and waacking.

A professional dancer and member of the ballroom scene, Habibitch effectively blends the codes of that culture with historical and political references from her background as a sociology researcher, making Décoloniser le dancefloor [Decolonising the Dancefloor] a performance that reflects its performer: impactful, humorous and socially conscious.  After last season’s sold-out run at the Hahalles festival, don’t miss this second edition, which promises to energise both the dancefloor and people’s minds!
