Alexander Vantournhout / Not Standing
In Nimble, Alexander Vantournhout presents his most expansive creation to date. Nine dancers form a contemporary ballet corps in continuous motion, oscillating between dazzling unison and breaking off into individual échappées.
Inspired by the footwork of boxers, the piece makes the lower body the driving force of an incisive physical language, shining a spotlight on what usually goes unnoticed. Heartbeat, breath, momentum: the rhythms unique to each performer feed a live collective pulse. On stage, trajectories intersect, merge, and disperse, forming a vibrant community that’s always evolving.
Driven by live music blending percussion, loops, and polyrhythms, Nimble promises an experience as visual as it is sonic, as contagious as it is hypnotic.
