First up, a spot of stunt training: six performers test the impact, absorb the shock, rehearse putting themselves in danger. Then, in a guided tour on the street, the audience follows their trajectory through the pitfalls of an urban space. A collision could occur. Is it real or carefully orchestrated?
Somewhere between reality and depicted scene, Collusiion shines a questioning spotlight on our relationship with images and empathy. Jérôme Michez combines inspirations, from blockbusters to Uberised restaurant delivery workers. The latter, often in insecure work and invisible to our accustomed eyes, are nevertheless omnipresent and exposed to shocks. What happens when the staging of an accident reveals what our gaze refuses to confront? A breathtaking performance where our desire for spectacle reveals its violence and is gradually deconstructed.
