MDLSX
Motus
Ben Brantley – The New York Times
Platinum highlights, angular rock star looks, magnetic presence: Silvia Calderoni is on stage alone and yet in multiple. Scene shifter, DJ, lighting technician, prop director, they orchestrate a sensory whirlwind that blurs social, sexual and stage frameworks.
MDLSX is a feverish queer journey, an intimate story inhabited by instinctive energy and an iconic soundtrack featuring Placebo, Air, the Smashing Pumpkins and Stromae. Between beams of coloured light and a DJ/VJ performance, the body searches from one genre to another before freeing itself. Neither man nor woman, or perhaps both, Silvia Calderoni frees themself from diktats to embrace their own beat to the rhythm of stripping bare, fully bare.
Ten years after its creation, this solo piece resonates more than ever, burning with an intact urgency and freedom.
