Futuro Antico

Martin Palisse is an author, juggler and director. At first self-taught, Martin Palisse trained in juggling with Jérôme Thomas, but also with Nadejda Aschvits and Maksim Komaro. In 2002, he created with Elsa Guérin the Cie Cirque Bang Bang and their first show In what sense?, with the collaboration of Lân Nguyen, then Phia Ménard. In 2004, he created Skratch, a piece between juggling, hip-hop and video. In 2005, Martin Palisse and Elsa Guérin were invited to Japan as part of the 2005 EU-Japan Year of People to People Exchanges/Arts for Community Growth and Development programme. They present their performances at the International Triennial of Contemporary Art in Yokohama. In 2006, the two artists began to turn towards the circus by creating Une nuit sur Terre under the marquee. They then invite the choreographer Hervé Diasnas and initiate juggling flight, a combination of juggling and movement. In 2009, creation of BODYnoBODY, in 2010 of SomeBODY in Lima, Peru, in Argentina in Buenos Aires and in Cordoba with the support of the Alliances Françaises and Culturefrance. In August 2011, Martin Palisse created POST with Elsa Guérin at the La Route du Sirque festival in Nexon, in partnership with Sirque, and since then has toured in France and abroad. He was elected to the National Council of the Syndicat du Cirque de Création, of which he was vice-president then president from 2010 to 2013. Appointed in January 2014 to the management of Sirque, the national center for circus arts in Nexon in Limousin, Martin Palisse ensures always with Elsa Guérin the artistic co-direction of Cirque Bang Bang, under agreement with the Ministry of Culture and Communication - Drac Auvergne, and partner of Semaphore and the City of Cébazat.

Futuro Antico is een circusperformance die opgebouwd is als een visuele en muzikale ode die werkt met elementaire dingen : negen witte en blauwe dozen op de vloer en aan het plafond, een stok, een witte ballon, een paar ballen, een jongleur die tot het uiterste gaat, een muzikant die koppig boven alles zweeft.

Een primitieve opstelling zoals een antiek altaar, futuristisch zoals een Mars-installatie. Een ruimtevaarder ? Een Griekse ziener die een offer voorbereidt ? Martin Palisse, een mysterieuze, onberispelijke figuur met een ritueel masker of een ruimtehelm op zijn hoofd, jongleert met zijn lichaam zonder blijk te geven van virtuositeit.

Maar met zowel een strakke als een organische nauwkeurigheid laten de ballen het lichaam alleen maar even los om er daarna opnieuw naar terug te keren. Ze bedekken de geringste holte en passen zich aan bij elke beweging.

Een tekst van Halory Georger wordt een psalm, de geluidsgolven strekken zich uit over een grote oceaan en wij worden meegenomen in een kosmisch hinkelspel dat het oneindig grote en het oneindig kleine door elkaar mengt: dans van de atomen, dans van de sterren, dans van hun geheime band.
